FEATURES & OPTIONS in Evo-ERP

Evo-ERP Configurator

The basic approach to Features and Options in Evo-ERP is the same as DBA Classic in that Type O parts are used in the Bill of Materials to designate a decision point and then the components of the Type O are the list of actual choices available.  There are, however, two significant differences between the Evo-ERP approach and that of DBA Classic which introduce additional flexibility.

Lower Level BOM options

In DBA Classic, the Type O part, or decision point must be at the very top level of the bill of materials because that is the only way the Sales Order entry program will be aware that there is a choice to be made.  The Evo-ERP configurator allows the decision point to be located at any level of the Bill of Materials which enables the selected components to be inserted to the Work Order Bill of Materials at the appropriate subassembly level.

Not Limited to Sales Orders

Once the selections of the options are made using FO-G Configure item (Evo-ERP) the final configuration of the item can be converted to a Sales Order, Sales Quote, Work Order, Purchase Order, RFQ, or copied to another configuration which can then be modified.  Converting to a Sales Order, Sales Quote or Work Order are similar to DBA Classic in results.  Convert to Vendor RFQ or Purchase has 2 scenarios.  If the parent part is a Type M (Make From) then the selected components are passed to the PO as Make From Components.  If the parent part is not a Make From, then the intent is that the components selected be type N descriptors which are then passed to the purchase order so the vendor is provided specifications to follow when producing the item such as color, etc.

Easy to Save and Finish Later or Edit

Once you have started making selections on a particular Bill of Materials, you can stop at any time and save the choices and continue editing at a later date.  You can also easily edit previously selected choices if a customer changes their mind.

Multiple Options can be selected at the Same Level

Depending on the setting established for an option in BM-A when setting up the option BOM, more than one option can be selected at a given level.
