RO-D  Enter Machines

Purpose of Program

Use this program to set up machines in a database file.  You may establish the number of machine hours that should occur between scheduled maintenance.  The system can automatically log machine hours through the Work Orders module, and free form notes may be maintained to record service, etc.

General Program Operation

Enter a machine number.  This is a four character, alphanumeric field.  If you are editing an existing machine, you may type in the machine number or you may select a machine by clicking on the Lookup icon (or press F2).  The machine description will automatically be displayed.

If entering a new machine, give it a 30 character description.  Next, specify the work center this machine is located in.  The work center and the machine can be the same thing in some cases.

If you plan to use this file for scheduled maintenance, enter the number of hours planned between servicing.  If you know it, enter the date for the last time this machine was serviced.  The number of hours used to date should be left blank, unless you know the figure.  This field will automatically be updated by the system as machine hours are reported through WO-F  Enter Labor.  Finally, enter any notes for any purpose you may have.

If you keep pressing <Enter>, the system will eventually ask you if you want to save the record.  If you want to save the record from any point on the screen, click on the Save button (or press F10).

Entering Trim Sizes (for Yield Calculator)

The Estimating module features a Yield Calculator within its bill of material entry, with which you can specify an X dimension and a Y dimension for a part and the program will determine how much of a sheet or length of material will be required.  Each machine can have a default Trim Size, which determines how much material is needed to be ripped?by the machine.  This trim material is not available for use by the part and is therefore an important factor in the yield equation.

To enter a machine Trim Size, bring the machine up on the screen.  Click on the Trim Size button (or press <PgDn>) to access the Trim Size entry screen.  Enter a trim size for the X dimension and one for the Y dimension.  Click on the First Page button (or press <PgUp>) to get back to screen one.
