SD-G  Estimating Defaults

Field Explanations

Starting Quote Number

The next available quote number to be used by ES-A  Enter Estimates.

Default Status Code

All quotes are assigned a status code.  The values are A=Active, C=Converted, I=Inactive, X=Canceled.  Normally the default status code will be set to A.

Default Class Code

An optional class (classification) code is available to help categorize estimates for reporting and retrieval purposes.  You may set a default value through this field.  This is a four character alphanumeric field.

Cust Quote Print Format Number

You are offered four print format choices in a lookup window.  Formats 1 and 2 are graphical formats.  The format identification number, which is used by UT-G, Enter Graphical Report Settings, is located in parenthesis to the right of the description.  Formats 3 and 4 are text-based formats normally used for dot matrix printing.  Highlight the format you want and click on it or press <Enter>.

Print Co. Name/Address on Quote?

Enter Y if you want your name and address printed in the upper left corner of the universal form.  This would not apply to the letterhead versions.

Print Title on Quote?

This option allows you to control whether the forms title (UOTATION? will print or not.  Suppressing the title allows the title to be pre-printed so that different forms are readily identifiable when pulled from the shelf to be used.

Num Days to Expiration Date

Enter the default number of days the customer quote is good for.  The estimate program will automatically calculate the quote expiration date by adding the number of days to the quotation date.

Material Margin

The default profit margin (not markup) for the material portion of the estimate.

Labor Margin

The default profit margin (not markup) for the labor and setup portion of the estimate.

Outs Proc Margin

The default profit margin (not markup) for the outside processing portion of the estimate.

Overhead Margin

The default profit margin (not markup) for the overhead portion of the estimate.

Total Margin

The default profit margin (not markup) that will be applied to all costs and profit margins that precede it.  The total margin is not applied to miscellaneous and extra costs and charges.

Default Machine for Trim Size

If you plan on using the Yield Calculator (see ES-A  Enter Estimates for details), you must specify a default machine for trim size, as defined in RO-D  Enter Machines.

Use Yield Calculator in BOM entry

If you intend to use the Yield Calculator during bill of material entry within the Estimating program, enter a Y in this field.  The Yield Calculator allows entry of an X and Y dimension and calculates how much sheet will be required to make a particular part.
