SH-K  View Work Center Load (DBA CLassic)

Purpose of Program

Use this program to get a graphical view on the screen of each work center's workload (backlog) compared to current capacity.  This will help determine if work centers are underutilized or overbooked.

If work centers are overbooked, you can respond by extending due dates or increasing capacity through overtime, additional personnel, or additional plant and equipment.

The graph shows 25 time increments into the future.  Time increments can be your choice of days or weeks.

The left column on the graph represents hours per day or week.  The hourly amount at the top of the column is determined by the day or week with the highest backlog.  The bottom row represents days or weeks into the future, going from left to right.  The dotted line across the middle of the graph represents current work center capacity in terms of either hours per day or per week.  The vertical bars on each time increment represent the load (backlog) currently scheduled for that day or week.  If the bar is higher than the capacity line, you've overbooked that time increment; if under the capacity line, you've got excess capacity.

In the lower right corner of the screen, the current hours per day or hours per week capacity for the work center are displayed, as well as the average load (actual scheduled  work orders) within the date range shown on the screen.

General Program Operation

Enter a work center or select one from a lookup window by pressing the F2 key (or clicking on the Lookup button).

You can limit the workload showing on the graph by entering from/thru ranges of machines, work order status codes (F-firm, R-released), priority codes (1,2,3), and work order class codes.

The graph will show either 25 days or weeks into the future.  Enter a finish date that will be the starting date of the graph.  If you want to see all 25 increments, press <Enter> through the second finish date field.

Finally, enter a D if you want to see daily increments or W for weekly increments.
